Following Phil Baroni’s withdrawl from UFC 118, Dan Miller (11-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) will step in as a replacement against John Salter (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), according to MMAJunkie.com.
Baroni was forced off the Aug. 28 event due to a collarbone injury.
Miller, who suffered his third consecutive UFC loss at UFC 114 to Michael Bisping, has received a chance to redeem himself within the organization. Miller had even said he expected to be cut, but afterwards said that he was given another chance.
Miller made a strong impression with three consecutive UFC victories before entering his current slump.
This replacement represents the second time Salter’s opponent has been switched, although this change comes with substantially more notice. Salter fought UFC vet Jason MacDonald on roughly one week’s notice, and won the match when MacDonald broke his leg in the first round of the fight.
Although the resultant victory may not have been achieved exactly how MacDonald wanted, it was an improvement upon his disappointing UFC debut in which he suffered a TKO loss to Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night 20.
The updated UFC 118 card now includes:
